About Ophir!

How do I create web pages?
For the actual HTML programming, I use a plain text editor, Window's Notepad. I create the graphics using Softkey's PhotoFinish 3.0 and the Microsoft Image Composer, and I top them off with LVIEWPro 16bit version for Windows. Why don't I use an HTML editor to make my life simpler? Because I believe that to do something right, you have to do it yourself. I have yet to find an editor that I feel I'm controlling, and I never seem to be able to break my old habit of doing things the hard way. I also dislike the difficulty of trying to get an editor to do something unusual. I'd rather type the HTML code as I write the pages in order to make it look the way I want. Just block-headed, I guess :)

Do you need a web page?
Do you find yourself in need of a webpage (or an entire website), but don't like the thought of learning all the tricks yourself, or paying a "professional" to do it for you? Give me a holler... I would be happy to help, and as a bonus: I work for peanuts :) As an example, I would've charged someone around $200 for everything you can find on the entire ForSale site. If you are looking for something "not so complex", a simple page layout and custom graphics would only cost you around $20.

You could then upload your page(s) to your own personal website (a service provided by many ISP's), or I could host your page(s) on my website for as little as $5 per month. If desired, I can even house a domain name for your website... whatever would serve you best.

Please keep me in mind if a need comes up!

Why the name Ophir?
I am a Christian, and this word 'OPHIR' has some Biblical significance. There was once a place in the Ancient Near East famous for, among other things, gold. Isaiah 13:12 and 1 Kings 9:28 highlight the worth of this 'Gold of Ophir' to the world, but my personal favorite passage, that speaks of this Ophir, is one where it's glory is dwarfed by the worth and desirability of God's Wisdom:

"But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; Neither is it found in the land of the living. The deep saith, It is not in me; And the sea saith, It is not with me. It cannot be gotten for gold, Neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, With the precious onyx, or the sapphire. Gold and glass cannot equal it, Neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal: Yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, Neither shall it be valued with pure gold." - Job 28: 12-19 ASV

So why would I take this name for myself? Well, I want to be sure to remember that my own significance is as worthy to be compared to the Greatness of our God as this Gold of Ophir. If I do a good work in this life, if I serve my friends in some fashion, if I share in an important endeavor in my lifetime, or if my strength is used to build someone else up... I always want people around me to know and understand that there is something much more to be exalted and desired than me and my name. There is something that my significance pales in comparison to. There is something that the wealth of the Gold of Ophir is unworthy to even be mentioned in the same sentence with. That something, is Wisdom from our God above. May He be exalted by the work of my hands in this world. If you want to learn more, please visit the webpage of the church I attend.

What else can I say?
My "real" name is Robert Stump Jr., I live in Columbus Ohio, USA, I work as an Administrative Assistant, I do a little Web Browsing when I can find the time, I like Mexican food, and I am single (how else could I have found the time to make crazy webpages like this).

Here's the best picture I have of my assistance dog Xena, and I.
